The Best of Twisty Christmas Tales launch at The Children’s Bookshop was a fabulous success with well over a hundred guests attending. A small kids ensemble opened the evening with Christmas music, then KurtX, the New Zealand’s Got talent harmonica semi-finalist, blew us away with his rendition of All I Want for Christmas is You!

Books kept marching off the counter into the hands of happy readers, with authors all over the store signing them. The Twisty Christmas Drawing Competition winners were awarded their prizes by Geoff Popham, our fabulous illustrator, winning books, cards and posters. Winners are announced in this post. Lots of good food was consumed and the authors were toasted!

Authors Shelley Chappell, Peter Friend and Robyn P Murray enjoy the evening.

There must’ve been a few Christmas fairies sprinkling fairy dust around the store, because by the end of the night, Phantom Feather Press had almost sold it’s first print run!

More books are currently flying off the press as we write and will be with us shortly, which is just as well, because the orders are still rolling in! If you’re based in Wellington, there are still a few copies of The Best of Twisty Christmas Tales at The Children’s Bookshop, and our wonderful launch hosts Ruth and John McIntyre will be happy to provide you with one!

Stores around the country are reporting that the books they ordered have already sold, and they are now restocking! So get in the Christmas mood and read your kids some stories from best-selling and emerging New Zealand authors. There’s something for everyone in this collection – fantasy, Sci-Fi and contemporary stories – most with a kiwi flavour – although New York hotdogs do feature in one episode.

The team at Phantom Feather Press would like to thank the nineteen authors who travelled from all over New Zealand to launch our collection. It was wonderful to see you all there. And of course, we’d also like to thank the authors who were there in spirit – in Christmas spirit, with their wonderful stories.

Just in case you’d like to meet some of our great authors, here they are:
